Project site was the location of a chrome plating operation
for 20 years, and COC were TCE, PCE, and chromic acid.
Interior concrete pad was removed as hazardous waste.
Remedial activities included in-situ soil blending with
powdered zero-valent iron (ZVI and Portland cement mix)
to a depth of 6 ft within the warehouse. In-situ blending to
a depth of 10 ft was performed in areas of impacts outside
the warehouse.
Restoration included placing stone and grading to
compaction standards for the new floor to be re-poured.
Challenges included maneuvering machinery within height
restrictions.
Project was completed 3 weeks ahead of schedule and all
confirmation samples after completion were non-detect.
